Dragonfly Soaps is Going to DelVal College

Yes! Come out and stop by our table at Delaware Valley College in Doylestown, PA where we will be participating in their annual A-Day event on April 26, 27 & 28. We’ll have our full line of soap including two new scents not yet listed on the website (Lemon, Lavender & Mint and a new beer soap – Leinenkugel’s Snowdrift Vanilla Porter). Plus we’ll have our decadent sugar scrubs, amazing tinted and flavored lip butters, mud masks and facial scrubs. And there will be gifts for Mother’s Day which is just around the corner.

Come on out and support the students of DelVal College who have been organizing this family oriented “Activities Day” since 1949. A-Day was designed to benefit the A-Day Scholarship Fund and to bring the campus and local community together for three days of educational exhibits, competitions, entertainment, fun and great food. Friday 12pm – 8pm, Saturday 10am – 7pm and Sunday 10am – 6 pm. Check DelVal’s link for more information and directions.  Oh, and it’s FREE! See you there.

Starting January 1st

In an effort to reduce waste and minimize the amount of paper we use, all soap ordered through this website will no longer be wrapped in the waxed paper. Essentially, your soap will come to you looking like how it is pictured on the website. In addition, we will no longer be cutting the tops off our bars of soap. For you, this means a bigger bar for the same price!  For us, it means less trimming and less time spent re-batching those trimmings. We feel this makes a small but meaningful environmental contribution. For all of our wholesale customers you will see no change in the soap you order. It will still be the same size, shape and packaging that you are used to.

Happy Holidays from the Dragonfly Soap Family to You and Yours!

Dragonfly Soaps would like to wish everyone a Happy Holiday and the Best of New Years!

We would also like to take this opportunity to let you know that we will be closed from Saturday, December 22nd to Thursday, December 27th. All orders received during this time will be processed on December 28th in the order they were received. Thank you for your understanding.

Ahhh June…..

The beginning of summer, real summer, when the swimming pools open and the amusement parks are in full swing. The trees are lush with their fresh new  tender green leaves, butterflies appear and dragonflies and insects of the sort that you’ve never laid eyes on before hinting at new and exciting adventures that await you in the coming new season of warm weather. It’s the time for floating down the river in a tube or lying in a hammock on a lazy Sunday afternoon entranced in the beauty of the sun-sparkled leaves of the trees against the vivid azure sky. Summer is HERE!

June also brings with it Father’s Day. A time to reflect upon one of the persons responsible for bringing us into the world. Maybe he was a great father, maybe he wasn’t so great. Either way, he gave us a brilliant opportunity to grow, to expand and become more. It was an outright blessing or a blessing in disguise. Did we recognize it? What have we done with it? Did we take it and run or did we whine about it? Can we just cut him a break, give him the benefit of the doubt and say “he did the best he could with what he had”? Whether or not you can, Father’s Day is coming June 17th. You can say thank you Dad with a bar or two of some of the best handcrafted soap in the world for the great dad OR you could just treat yourself to some and mentally say “Here’s to you Dad” for the not so great dad.

Oatmeal Stout Beer Soap

Yesterday we made a small batch of soap with 2 bottles of Wolaver’s Organic Oatmeal Stout Beer. In addition to our normal olive, coconut, palm and shea butter we added a good healthy dose of cocoa butter.  To hint at the coffee and chocolate highlights that are present in the beer we added just a bit of chocolate and coffee fragrance oil, not too much, just a whiff! We added Hershey’s Special Dark Cocoa Powder to give it a rich dark brown color….. just like the poured beer in a tall frosty glass!

Today we took the soap out of the mold, a 9 x 12 x 3 inch slab and tomorrow we will cut it into bars and stack it so it can cure for about 3 – 4 weeks at which time we can test and evaluate the color and scent for possible improvements. So far it looks and smells good but soap can change as goes thru it’s curing process so only time will tell. I’ll keep you posted!

Say Goodbye to Exotic Earth and One Summer Night Soaps

We have been unable to get one of the key ingredients in our Exotic Earth and our One Summer Night soaps. If you love either of those 2 bars you might want to stock up now because after our supply runs out we will not be able to make any more. We will, of course, try to recreate the ingredient ourselves but it is very complex and might take some time and then may never really be the same as the original. We apologize to all lovers of these 2 scents as we are also heartbroken ourselves. They are both our favorites too. As you might know, I created the One Summer Night scent for my daughter’s wedding in 2006 and it has always been a favorite of mine.

We will continue to bring you new scents, however,  to replace the old. Right now we are working on a bar made with BEER! Yes, beer, and not just any old beer, but Wolaver’s organic Oatmeal Stout Beer. Wolaver’s Oatmeal Stout has chocolate and coffee hightlights so our plan is to insure the soap is a rich dark color like the poured beer with a bit of a chocolate espresso scent, not too strong and maybe add a few coffee grounds for interest and exfoliation. Not sure on the coffee grounds yet though, we’ll see how I feel about it as it all comes together but right now I think the soap will be interesting on it’s own without the grounds! Till next time….Jackie

NEW – ICED VANILLA SOAP

We would like to introduce our newest soap, Iced Vanilla, with a special price of only $4.50. It is an unusual combination of vanilla with a touch of peppermint that is surprisingly NICE! Angela, our head soap maker, created the scent in 2009 for her destination wedding on the beautiful island of St. John in the Caribbean. We all loved it here at Dragonfly headquarters and have been making it for ourselves and the Locals ever since. We now want to share it with you. For a limited time you can try it for $.50 less per bar. We think you will love it too!

Have you ever wished you could try the different scents of soap before you bought full sized bars?

Well. now you can! Try our sample pack of end cuts. Choose 4 scents plus 2 or 3 alternatives (in case of unavailability as our supply of end cuts is always changing). You will receive a generous 6 1/2 oz of soap. You can put the SamplePack in your shopping cart from the Workhorse Soap page. Let us know your scent choices by writing them in the NOTE section of the shopping cart when you are checking out. Note which ones are alternatives OR you could number your choices from 1 to 7 with 1 being the most desired.
